Leonard Jackson
My name is Leonard Jackson and I am a former resident of Tabitha Community Services. In 1995, at the age of 12, my family and I were residents there for one year. When we first came to Tabitha, I thought it would be a terrible place until I found out that they had so many programs going on for the youth. I found that the people really cared about the children and it turned out to be the most beautiful atmosphere, which left an impact on my life that could never be replaced.

The after-school program helped me through the rough times of missing my friends from the old neighborhood and school. It also gave me the will to succeed in furthering my education and career goals. Although rough times still come about, I have learned several life skills. I hope that any one who has children there would take the chance and the opportunity of a lifetime that will make any child smile in the end.

I am now 20 years old and I have graduated at the top of my Job Corp class with a certificate in Business Administration. Currently, I attend the Vincennes University College in Vincennes , Indiana with a major in computer Science and I have been able to live on campus and obtain a certificate in rebuilding and upgrading computer software. I am still hoping to one day open my own Real Estate Business and help other people who are homeless or in need. I will graduate in 2006 and I plan to also come back and volunteer my time just as I do now whenever I'm in Chicago on my school break.

“Thank you” for everything and for keeping up the good work, because with out you, many children would not have a blessed home to live in.

Lynette Frazier
Hello, my names if Lynette Frazier. I'm 29 years old and the mother of a 14-month old son. I came to Tabitha House on March 23. Tabitha House has been a blessing to my son and I because we have clothing, shelter and food to eat. My family here at Tabitha House has taught me to save and budget my money. My family also helped me with different programs, such as low-income housing. Many people have been successful in finding adequate housing, thanks to Tabitha House. So, I know that I will be the next “family member” to have great success. My goal is to give back to the community and to also return to school for a better education. I'm currently working a part-time job while searching out other opportunities to improve every area of my life. Thank God for the staff and the owner for giving me a new beginning.

My name is Cora Allen. I am a mother of three children. We've been blessed to have Mother and Father Walker in our lives today. They opened the doors of Tabitha House to us back in April of this year. When we came through the doors, they gave us shelter, food, supplies, clothing; and most of all, the knowledge of Jesus Christ. I am so very thankful for receiving Jesus Christ as the head of my life. Since I have let Jesus in my life, I have begun to trust in Him. I now know that my blessings will come. I have successfully completed a training class called Y-Alliance, which is a Customer Service and Employment Program. I have also completed an extensive 2-week Job Club. Currently, I am attending Malcolm X College to complete my GED classes. I can now further my education to become a successful teacher.

Once completing my goals, I will be able to gain and maintain employment and also have a stable home for my children and myself. I thank God for loving me unconditionally and for Father and Mother Walker for welcoming us with open arms.
